Marking the one year anniversary of the release of the Chasing Birds EP, Boston-based experimental art pop artist ADVIKA releases a hand-drawn animation music video for the title track of the EP — directed, produced, and animated entirely herself.
"Leading into the climactic conclusion of the EP, “Chasing Birds” is a cinematic, introspective representation of the constant internal conflict that comes with being raised in two different cultures. Growing up, social pressures caused me to continually distance myself from my Tamil heritage in favor of American culture. As I grew older, and desired to reconnect with my roots, I found it increasingly difficult to make sense of where I come from. “Chasing Birds” uses the metaphor of birds and trees to emphasize the importance of one’s roots and the loss that can come with assimilation in a different culture. The song pays homage to my heritage and features synths, dark and distorted piano, tabla rhythms, and expressive vocals."

ADVIKA is a Boston-based artist, songwriter, producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist whose music focuses on storytelling and world-building through acoustic-electronic instrumentation and thoughtful, honest lyrics. Her work is influenced by jazz and Carnatic (South Indian classical) music. Her vocal performances are emotive, and she delivers the lyrics with sincerity and vulnerability. Advika's diverse musical backgrounds create a unique sound that is appealing to a wide range of listeners.
ADVIKA’s music journey started at the age of four, with classical piano. Later in elementary school, she began her training in classical viola as well as Carnatic singing. She subsequently found her love for jazz, seeking inspiration in the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Betty Carter. Around the age of thirteen, she began to write her own music and started experimenting with music production, modular synthesis, and sound design, incorporating elements from all the genres she loved.
A recent graduate from Berklee College of Music, with a major in Electronic Production and Design, ADVIKA’s works have been featured in venues such as Lincoln Center, MIT, and NYU. Her work, Pariah, was showcased at ICMC Boston 2025. Her single, “If Only I Were Cake”, reached over 78K Spotify streams as of May 2026.
ADVIKA is also a multimedia visual artist and creates all of her album art. The artwork she creates is in conversation with her music. She often goes beyond identifying as an artist or a musician, blending both identities to create interdisciplinary pieces of art.

“ADVIKA’s dreamy melodies take you on a celestial journey as she explores the depth of human emotions.”

"With Chasing Birds, she doesn’t simply borrow from different genres; she integrates them with care, intention, and emotional clarity. It’s rare to encounter a debut project this ambitious and cohesive."
