Presenting “Starring As,” ADVIKA’s first full length album. Over the course of 10 songs, the album invites the listener into a world of whimsical theatrics with unsettling tales of comfort and woe. ADVIKA dares the listener to venture with her backstage past the blinding spotlights, through the velvet curtains, and past the lace-adorned gowns of jewel toned satins, to uncover our most secret fears and inclinations.
“Starring As” draws from ADVIKA’s diverse influences, ranging from jazz and classical to experimental and Carnatic (South Indian classical). Written, performed, and produced by ADVIKA, the album utilizes the full breadth of her sonic, lexical, and tactile vocabulary to forge something new. With visceral, vivid lyrics, the artist is unafraid to confront the deepest depths of the human condition and the agonizing, euphoric, and nauseating feelings that define our experiences, however unflattering they may be.
Fluent in the art of world building, ADVIKA brings together her musical and visual artistry. A music video will accompany one of the songs on the album (“Actor”), which includes marionette puppets, costuming, and set design all meticulously handmade by ADVIKA.
With this album, ADVIKA offers you a little weirdness, a little whimsy, and an ethereal discomfort that perplexingly lures you in. With whatever emotions this album evokes in you—peace, warmth, or even uneasiness—she sincerely hopes you feel them deeply, surrendering for just a moment to this imaginative and chaotic world.
Artist Bio
ADVIKA is a Boston-based artist, songwriter, producer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and visual artist whose artistry focuses on storytelling and world building through atmospheric acoustic-electronic instrumentation and vivid, honest lyrics. Her work is influenced by jazz and Carnatic (South Indian classical) music. Her vocal performances are emotive and deliver the lyrics with sincerity and vulnerability. Advika's diverse musical backgrounds create a unique sound that is appealing to a wide range of listeners.
ADVIKA’s musical journey started at the age of four, with classical piano. Later in elementary school, she began her training in classical viola as well as Carnatic singing. She subsequently found her love for jazz, seeking inspiration in the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Betty Carter. Around the age of thirteen, she began to write her own music and started experimenting with music production, modular synthesis, and sound design, incorporating elements from all the genres she loved.
A recent graduate from Berklee College of Music, with a major in Electronic Production and Design, ADVIKA’s works have been featured in venues such as Lincoln Center, MIT, and NYU. Her work, Pariah, was selected to be showcased at ICMC Boston 2025. The first two singles off the new album, "Wake Up", and "Love Song", were recently released and have already gained popularity across social media and streaming platforms.
